GREATER PETERBOROUGH UTC RECEIVES PLANNING APPROVAL

LSI Architects are delighted that it’s Greater Peterborough UTC, a new university technical college based in Peterborough has received planning approval.

The project will cost £7 million and work has already started on site, with the building expected to open in September 2015.
University Technical Colleges are a new education concept, offering 14-18 year olds the opportunity to take a highly regarded, full time, technically-oriented course of study.

The Greater Peterborough UTC, which will be based at Peterborough Regional College, aims to develop young people who are skilled, professional and enterprising and who can provide a significant contribution to making the Greater Peterborough area a powerhouse for technological and scientific industries. It is hoped that the UTC will not just benefit the young people, but also benefit businesses in the region, providing them with technologically and scientifically skilled employees of the future.
Both LSI Architects, who have designed the GPUTC and contractor Kier, have experience in delivering UTC’s, most recently with UTCNorfolk in Norwich, currently regarded as the benchmark for UTC movement across the country.
