Green Gown Award for Crome Court

Hot on the tail of the recent National RICS award for Design Through Innovation,  Crome Court has been named winner of the 2015 Green Gown Award for the Built Environment by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) at an award ceremony on 26 November.

The Green Gown Award judges were impressed by the thorough approach adopted in relation to planning, procuring, and constructing this building. The attention to detail was clearly evidenced in the efforts made to address social, economic, and environmental issues of sustainability. Judges were delighted to see the use of BIM and the focus given to a whole life costing approach to construction. The resulting building is an exemplar to the sector demonstrating not only impressive sustainability credentials, but also providing students with an attractive and appropriate environment.

Martin Lovatt, Senior Estates Project Manager at the University of East Anglia commented that “We’re delighted with the announcement that Crome Court has won a Green Gown Award for the Built Environment last night. Crome Court is UEA’s newest and most energy-efficient student accommodation. The project came in £800,000 under budget, the ‘Building Information Modelling’ (BIM) process proved to be a most intelligent way to design and work. Congratulations to my entire team, it was an honour and a pleasure to have worked with them all. “
