Karl Thurston

BIM Manager and Associate

Karl joined LSI Architects in 1994 as an architectural technician, and over the 20 years has worked in most sectors from Masterplanning to Production Information. With a well-developed knowledge of CAD and IT, he contributes to both areas of the business, developing systems and procedures to mitigate risks and improve efficiency.

Karl has worked with a National Private Healthcare Provider to develop protocols to improve the management of building facilities across its property portfolio. He has developed the BIM execution plan on a number of fully collaborative projects, including new £10M Student Residence at UEA where LSI together with all the stakeholders including Client, FM Team, Design Team, Main Contractor, Sub Contractors and Suppliers is providing intelligent asset information for FM purposes.

The industry and our processes are constantly evolving and Karl is driving improvement in all aspects of our communication and information delivery, ensuring that our learning from one project benefits the next. He is LSI’s CAD and BIM manager, and a natural trainer, providing one-to-one, and group training in ‘Best Practice’ workflows, and has spoken on national platforms.
