The project fills a gap between the high street, the market, and a principal car park, following the departure of the old magistrates courts.

Through the twelve years of the project’s history and its birth in the middle of a retail slump, there have been three “developer clients” and retail patterns have changed considerably. The challenge throughout has been to hold on to the urban amenity of the scheme.

The centre is now beginning to enjoy the improved ambience in Warren Street, the better connection to the Markets and an easy ride up a steep hill.
