Sustainable Design
Buildings and structures have a huge impact on the environment. They change the nature, function and appearance of land. They consume energy and generate waste and pollution when being built and during lifetime use. They attract users and visitors and so create demands on transport services and infrastructure.
The construction industry and the use of our building creates over 50% of CO2 emissions produced in the UK, and therefore we as designers have an enormous contribution to make to quality of life through sustainable development.
