Planning Permission has been granted for our scheme to extend The Edinburgh Clinic, a Listed Building situated within a conservation area to the south-west of Edinburgh City Centre.

The Edinburgh Clinic offers access to appointments for out-patient consultation, on-site diagnostic imaging, and day-case surgical treatment. The new extension will accommodate clinical and support facilities, patient bedrooms and staff welfare areas.

The site of the extension is currently home to a range of temporary buildings that will be removed to facilitate the development.

The stone clad, three-storey ‘villa’ extension and basement floor below will connect to the existing  main clinic building via a single-storey link, covered by a sedum roof to give the appearance of a green garden between the two buildings when viewed from above. The visual impact of this single storey link element will be minimised by a transparent glass frontage.

At the rear the extension will be connected to the Steading building behind, housing additional clinical facilities, with a single storey glazed corridor.

The design of new extension has been carefully considered to maintain the historic pattern of development along Colinton Road, in-line with planning policy for new development in villa areas. Materials have been kept to a simple palette of smooth dressed sand stone, zinc cladding, vertical terracotta cladding, grey aluminium framed windows and curtain walling.
