Two Projects Shortlisted for 2017 RICS Awards

Our latest UEA Student Residence buildings, Hickling House and Barton House, and our Arthur Rank Hospice project in Cambridge have been shortlisted for 2017 Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Award.

Hickling House and Barton House has been shortlisted in the Design Through Innovation category. The project, which was constructed using CLT in just 62 weeks, achieves a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and further supports the UEA’s environmental policies and carbon reduction plans to promote sustainable design. Martin Lovatt, Senior Estate Project Manager at UEA commented “The quality of the scheme will stand on its own merits and time will tell, but for now what we can say is we believe there to be none better in this class of student accommodation in the country”. Our previous student residences project at the University of East Anglia, Crome Court, was winner of the Design Through Innovation category at the 2015 RICS Awards.

The £10.5 million state-of-the-art Arthur Rank Hospice has been shortlisted in the Community Benefit category.  Dr Lynn Morgan, CEO of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity said of their new home “It will make an enormous difference, there’s just so much space and so much light. For years our staff have delivered excellent care, although in order to do that they have had to work around the building we’ve had.

“This building works with them. The rooms are wider, the corridors are wider, and we can take more patients. We’ve got many more social rooms than we’ve ever had before.

“We’re really delighted, everyone who has seen the space is really wowed by it.”
