Plans for New State Primary Boarding School Approved

The Sapientia Education Trust (SET) plans to offer 452 day places and 32 boarding places through the scheme.

Our plans for a new state primary boarding school within the grounds of Wymondham College have been approved by councillors.

The Sapientia Education Trust (SET) plans to offer 452 day places and 32 boarding places when the buildings are complete.

The proposals encompass a new two-storey 2FE primary school building including general teaching classrooms, dedicated DT classroom, library, SEN spaces, Hall and all necessary staff and support areas. As well as the new building work, the proposal includes a new MultiUse Games Area (MUGA), additional car parking spaces, external play areas and landscaping.

Alongside the new provision of a primary school, the Trust will offer Underwood Hall, a new boarding block for Year 5 and 6 pupils. The proposed boarding block will provide 8no. 4 pupil shared bedrooms, recreation and dining spaces, as well as three staff units including a matron’s flat. Underwood Hall will also be home to Mabel the golden Labrador, for children to cuddle if they get homesick.

The two new buildings will be unified, along with the whole Wymondham College site, with the use of buff brick. For the school’s principal entrance, and the hall block, a coloured render has been proposed to identify the different space usage within.
