Derek Jackson Graphics and Visualisation Manager

Derek joined LSI in 2003, after graduating from UEA, and became an Associate in 2017. Derek has been involved in all aspects of visualisation and graphics at LSI, with a wealth of experience in photo-realistic & conceptual visuals, virtual reality and augmented reality, animations and photography.

A member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators, he has competed in international competitions, including winning 3rd place in the Ronen Bekerman Architectural Visualisation competition. He has written tutorials for 3D Artist magazine, and his images have appeared in “D’Artiste: Matte Painting 3”, “Drawing on Architecture” and the Exposé series of books, in Advanced Photoshop magazine and the AJ, as well as on television. He has produced Digital Matte Painting work for the UK feature film “Arthur & Merlin”, and designed a mural for Norwich BID’s “City of Stories” project.

The software he has familiarity with includes ArchiCAD, FormZ, Maxwell, Photoshop, Lumion, and 3D Studio Max, supported by knowledge of photography and scripting languages (GDL, PHP, CSS, JavaScript).

A willing and able coach, Derek has worked to develop a high standard of visualisation skills across the technical team. Most of LSI’s projects benefit from Derek’s input and imagery, and recent work includes LSI’s shortlisted entry for the NaCSBA Shoestring Competition, the Ebury UTC scheme in Westminster, and the University of East Anglia’s Union House.
