Close liaison was required with the clinical team to ensure infection control, and clinical functionality, and with the Hospital Arts Coordinator to achieve effective interior design. Considerate selection of materials and the use of artwork has produced uplifting spaces that are subtle, avoiding confusion and encourage wellbeing and independence in patients. Space standards and lighting were also improved.

Feedback from the clinical team has confirmed that the specific dementia approach has worked well for patients; creating a calm environment with much improved way finding and visibility of nurses.
