Working in collaboration with Regal London, the redevelopment of the site on the corner of Commercial Road and Greenfield Road has provided a ground plus 13-storey building including a single basement level.
Operating under Staycity Group, the aparthotel offers 156 studio and one-bedroom apartments, delivering a blend between home and hotel. All ‘rooms’ benefit from high specification kitchenettes, alongside a 24hour reception, fully equipped gym and bar.
Walnut veneer has been used in throughout the Front of House facilities, contrasting with brass infill pieces and a dark ceiling to provide a welcoming environment for guests in line with the clients Look and Feel guidelines. The exposed concrete aesthetic, which has been provided by fair-faced concrete columns, adds to the dark wood and bronze pallet to create a high-quality finish.
Following LSI’s appointment, the construction methodology progressed to a pre-cast concrete construction solution, which would enable a faster, more efficient delivery of the scheme. The project is an excellent example of a construction project that strikes a perfect balance between meeting today’s needs and natural resources for tomorrow.
The thermal mass of concrete saves energy year-round by reducing temperature swings. The resulting lower overall temperatures can make a difference in the amount of electricity consumed in air conditioning and can reduce smog formation, which has the potential to improve air quality in urban areas.
