Eltham Church of England Primary School Refurbishment Sketch LSI Architects

A £6M Refurbishment of the existing Eltham CofE Primary School in Greenwich and the creation of a new two-storey teaching block including extensive landscaping, expanding the 315 pupil school to a 420 pupil place 2FE primary school, including a new 26 place nursery. The new building responds to its context to minimise impact to open space and neighbouring buildings, and creates a site that is responsive and respectful to the surrounding area. The use of traditional materials in a modern interpretation with the careful introduction of colour, has created a design that is both imaginative and appropriate.

‘‘Throughout the engagement process of PSBP, LSI listened and responded to the thoughts and dreams of our governing body, demonstrating sensitivity and creativity ensuring the new design maintained integrity with our 150 year old Victorian building. The final design is striking and efficient, maximising space and a fluidity of movement for the children.’’
