George Green’s School

LSI worked with Bouygues, and school staff, to revisit ambitious £18M BSF plans to overhaul the only secondary school on the Isle of Dogs
George Green’s School

The existing school was a pioneering 1970s LCC split-level concrete-framed, concrete-block design with many community facilities but with structural problems and failing environmental performance that were limiting educational performance.

LSI prepared a 4-phase package of repairs and enhancements for £8.5M. The works included the structurally challenging insertion of 4No classroom and a specialist drama classroom into a previous double height hall; a remodelled suite of tuition rooms for SEN use, the upgrade and extension of the community and teaching Cafe Vert which improved the café’s public frontage together with a general uplift in finishes to the entire 1970s building.

Following completion, the learning environment and the non-teaching environments were dramatically improved, providing real future benefits to the educational and operational functioning of the school.
