The works provided two new extensions, one to the west and one to the east of the existing buildings. The refurbishment of the library into a central ‘Investigate Space’ (learning resource and ICT area) at the west extension created a new focus at the heart of the school.

The creation of a new entrance at the east extension includes a foyer for use as a display space, plus an innovative arrangement of administrative and leadership team offices, along with a multi-purpose staff area.

The designs benefitted from an interactive consultation process between our team and the school community. This included a series of ‘workshops’ with active participation encouraged from pupils, parents, staff and governors. This input helped to shaped the final design and character of the spaces in line with the school’s vision.

The new building utilises curved Hemcrete walls, sedum-moss roofing and natural ventilation to provide flexible teaching accommodation with shared spaces segregated by the geometry and furniture rather than walls.
