The Broads Authority approached the NAA seeking assistance with the preparation of a Sustainability Guide to best practice development in the National Park. LSI Architects worked closely with Authority personnel to produce an accessible booklet and CD in-house, and a seminar in the BA Festival of Science hosted by UEA.

The LSI/Broads team researched practicable and appropriate ways to ensure that buildings contribute to biodiversity and a sustainable future by using natural local resources, and by creating interventions appropriate for Broadland. The guide was intended to suggest ways in which the built environment can complement the sustainable balance of the Broads.

In 2007 the Guide won an RICS East Award for Innovation and also won a National RTPI Award Winner in the category ‘Rural Areas and the Natural Environment’.
