City College Norwich StartUp Lounge
LSI’s design for the 600sqm Start-Up Lounge was produced in response to the Principal’s initiative to create an environment to reflect an ‘entrepreneurial journey’ in which to better prepare students for job creation and employment. The result is a full and vibrant fit-out of the shell of a 16m-wide 1970s office.
Taking students through a series of stages in a business start up journey, the StartUp Lounge was a ground-breaking new facility for City College Norwich. LSI’s design proposes a series of discrete interior spaces, designed to generate collaboration and inquisitiveness in students, moving from spaces designed for research and concept work, through to business planning and presentation.
The aesthetic is purposely dynamic and youthful, loosely corporate but reasonably remote from typical education environment to encourage a more professional and self-starting approach to education. Local entrepreneurs and supporting business are encouraged to use the StartUp Lounge alongside and in some cases, aiding the students in their own ideas and skills.
