LSI-Architects-Langley-Grammar-School-Model

Funded by the ESFA as part of the Priority Schools Building Programme, the £18M scheme comprises demolishing the original 1950’s central blocks, having come to the end of their useful life, and replacing them with two new buildings: one containing front of house facilities for the whole site, and the other containing teaching accommodation.

LSI recognised from an early stage that there is no existing central ‘heart’ space to the site where pupils of all ages could congregate.

The creation of a new heart space has driven the design of the scheme both externally and internally. The positioning of the new buildings on the site creates a new central communal playground and external dining area.

New facilities across the site include a school library, dance studio and sixth form centre, along with general teaching accommodation.

The new buildings are designed to ensure that the school has sufficient accommodation for approximately 1250 students by 2023.
