Louise Knights and Daniel Pedley join RIBA Principal Designer Register

We are delighted to share that Director Louise Knights and Associate Director Daniel Pedley have each joined RIBA’s Principal Designer Register for non-Higher Risk Buildings (non-HRB’s) and Higher Risk Buildings (HRB’s).

The role of a Principal Designer is to effectively plan, manage, monitor and coordinate design work to ensure that a project is safe and compliant.

Inclusion on the Register identifies that Chartered Architects have been rigorously assessed against RIBA’s Competence Criteria, based on PAS 8671. This provides assurance of their competence to undertake the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and amended Building Regulations 2023.

Application to the Register for HRB’s comprises a three-stage assessment, including a knowledge test, written submission, and competence assessment interview. A reapplication is required every five years.

Louise and Dan now join Associate Jordan Armstrong as Registered Principal Designers, with Jordan having been on the CIAT Principal Designer Register since 2024. As registered Principal Designers, Dan, Jordan and Louise will continue to lead on delivery of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role within LSI, which is implemented and delivered directly by our technical teams.
