Associate Jordan Armstrong named on CIAT Principal Designer Register

We are delighted to share that Associate Jordan Armstrong has been appointed a Registered Principal Designer for non-Higher Risk Buildings (non-HRB’s) and Higher Risk Buildings (HRB’s) by CIAT, the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.

CIAT launched its Building Regulations Principal Designer Register on the 1st of May 2024 and Jordan is among the first cohort of professionals to qualify for inclusion.

The role of the Building Regulations Principal Designer is to assist clients and/or contractors in planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating designers and design work, by taking reasonable steps to ensure that this work is compliant with relevant requirements.

Inclusion on the Register identifies that the competence of Chartered Architectural Technologists has been verified against CIAT’s Framework, which is based on PAS 8671, providing assurance of their competence to undertake the role of Principal Designer.

Jordan commented: “I am delighted to have successfully completed the assessment process and subsequently be amongst the first group of chartered architectural technologists to be appointed to the CIAT Principal Designer Register.

LSI Architects has always had a focus on ensuring the compliance of projects to all relevant regulations and we will continue to implement the frameworks and processes we already have in place to assist us in delivering our Principal Designer service.”

Director David Andrews commented: “Jordan is a key member of our internal Building Safety Act Steering Group which has been working diligently to build our teams knowledge and awareness of the Building Safety Act. This is well deserved recognition of the work Jordan and the Steering Group have done to ensure LSI Architects is well placed to deliver the Principal Designer role.

As an organisation, LSI Architects can demonstrate its competence to deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer role as a result of the well-established processes outlined in our integrated management system, which is registered to the standards of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and BS EN ISO14001:2015. These processes have served to ensure we have the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours within our team that are fully aligned with the Building Safety Act and amended Building Regulations 2023.”
