David Andrews
Chief Operating Officer
David joined LSI in 1995 after receiving an RIBA prize for his Diploma. He has been a Director since 2003 and in December 2021 was appointed Chief Operating Officer at the practice.
His 20+ years experience across public and private sector acute, primary, mental and community health projects lie behind LSI’s current national reputation across the UK, including commissions from NHS Foundation Trusts and Private Hospitals, along with representation on National Frameworks, including NHS SBS and recognition in the Better Healthcare Awards and a geographic spread of projects from the South of England to Scotland.

St Thomas’ Endoscopy Unit
A first floor remodelling in the north block, developed as a benchmark for best practice in the design of endoscopy units, involving extensive consultation with multiple stakeholders – including patient focus groups.
Addenbrooke’s EVAR Theatres
A new state of the art Hybrid Endovascular Aneurism Repair, or EVAR theatres and standard operating theatre, with associated clinical support spaces, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
Holly House Hospital
This major extension and remodelling of an existing private hospital combined the technical issues of working in a live environment, and optimising clinical functionality, with the planning issues arising from developing in a sensitive residential context adjacent to an SSSI.
Southend University Hospital Bereavement Suite
A dedicated healing environment for the newly bereaved at Southend Hospital, replacing an outdated and inadequate provision for bereavement care at the hospital.
Addenbrooke’s Major Trauma Centre
The first of the Major Trauma Centre’s to go live in the UK, this project comprised the refurbishment of the existing Emergency Department including expansion into an existing outpatient clinic to create the new Major Trauma Centre for the Eastern Region.
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital MRI and CT
A simple two storey rectangular block with a single storey link to the existing Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Addenbrooke’s Dementia Ward
A £500K refurbishment of an existing ward to provide a 26 bed, best-practice Dementia-friendly environment, one of several P21 Framework projects undertaken by LSI with Miller HPS.
Notre Dame High School
The £350K scheme was the only refurbishment to receive funding in the Classroom of the Future programme. The 220m2 redevelopment created an innovative environment for teaching and learning.
St Mary’s School
The design proposals for the extension & improvement works to St Mary’s CEVA Primary School in Mildenhall were developed in response to the identified need to improve access, staff and administrative accommodation at the school and to enhance the existing facilities to create a more exciting and inspiring environment for the delivery of the curriculum to its 286 pupils.
Private: Maudsley Hospital Dining Room
After the successful win of a limited competition, LSI Architects completed the interior refurbishment of a hospital dining room and corridor at the Maudsley Hospital for Kings Health Partners.
Holly House Hospital Sterile Service Department
Semi-buried, with a grass roof and plum coloured elevations, the new SSD forms an orderly addition to a previously extended Victorian lodge. The fibre cement cladding has been co-ordinated with openings, canopies and external surfaces to give a slick, controlled appearance.
Cancer Centre London
New £7.5M oncology centre for Aspen Health Care comprising two linear accelerators, imaging suite, medical physics, chemotherapy treatment rooms, consulting rooms, pharmacy, medical records, complimentary therapy and information centre.
