LSI Architects becomes a certified BCorp

LSI Architects has recently become a Certified B Corporation, joining the movement of businesses that are committed to changing how business operates and that believe business really can be a force for good.

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The ‘B’ stands for Benefit for all, with the B Corp movement mobilised to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

The certification of LSI Architects as a BCorp is the result of many years of work to establish policies and processes that have supported our work to make the practice outstanding employer, our ongoing work to meet our target to achieve net zero emissions from our office activities by 2030 and our work with our clients to deliver projects that improve lives, build communities and enhance society.

LSI Architects is now part of a growing community of over 8,000 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK is one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world, with over 1,700 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes. Names include The Guardian, Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, Tony’s Chocolonely, The Big Issue, Finisterre, Elemis, and Sipsmith Gin, as well as a growing number of architectural practices.

Chief Executive Officer Ben Goode said:

“We are extremely proud to now be able to call ourselves a certified B Corp.

We first considered BCorp certification a number of years ago with it being clear to us that the principles that lie behind the BCorp movement were closely aligned with our own focus on long term benefits over short term profit, and our understanding that we have a responsibility to leave a positive legacy.

As a practice we have always been proud of what we describe as our ‘healthy unrest’ and our constant search for excellence in design and the way we run our business.

So, whilst we are pleased to have achieved a score that has led to our certification as a BCorp, for us this is about understanding where we are as a business in terms of the BCorp impact areas and where there might be opportunities to improve.

Ultimately, we are delighted to be part of a community of businesses that share our belief that business is a force for good.”
