A newbuild project in Cambridge, providing accommodation for undergraduates, postgraduates and young Fellows, comprising 136 en-suite rooms and 11 flats.
LSI assisted by developing the concept design and obtaining Building Control and other consents. Three parallel blocks of 2 and 3 storeys frame landscaped gardens, and provide access via the traditional ‘Cambridge staircase’ to the accommodation.
Winner of the David Unwin Award for the best new building in Cambridge, 2011, this project was technically complex, with traditional materials deployed in a contemporary manner, inspired by the local Art & Crafts tradition.
