Queensmill ASD School Building
Bouygues UK commissioned LSI for the post RIBA Stage 3 delivery of this £6.5M, 4100sqm new-build Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) School providing education from nursery age to post 16. The project was completed in August 2014 and is located in Shepherd’s Bush.
The ASD School building, which utilised 3D modelling for coordination, was constructed in 11 months from prefabricated concrete slabs and wall panels clad in white render and translucent glazing.
The school practices a completely inclusive philosophy for all its pupils and staff; the building is their school and evokes this in a simple and clear form with a neutral and eloquent palette; providing the perfect backdrop for the children’s learning environment. The specialist building also includes multi-sensory and respite suites.
In addition to Queensmill ASD School Building, LSI Architects have completed a series of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) related projects including Brent Knoll School, Harpley PRU and Blossom House School. We believe the successful design of specialist educational environments culminates in getting the basics right and placing pupil’s needs at the heart of the design.
